Yesterday a picture of my nieces and nephews popped up on FB. Upon closer inspection they appeared to be standing in front of a casket. So I clicked on the album so see the image up close. The first picture in the album was a close-up of dead woman in a casket. The rest of the album pictured additional pictures of the deceased along with photos of various people hanging out around the casket.
WTF??? Personally, I think it is bizarre to take pictures of dead people in the first place, although I know it is not especially uncommon. But to post them on Facebook??? In what world is that appropriate? It just seems to be incredibly disrespectful to the deceased.

Creepy, agreed. I guess the pertinent Facebook question is, was the corpse "tagged?" Now that would definitely be creepy.
At my first open casket funeral (a great uncle), the family tried to get me to pose for pictures in front of the body. Uh....NO. Creeped me out. I don't get it, not even a little.
The 21 year old, 38wks pregnant fiance of my former coworker died suddenly of a blood clot in her lung, taking her full term baby girl with her to heaven. They buried them together, baby girl in her mother's arms. Deeply, horribly sad. However. He took dozens of pictures of the two in the casket, and carried them in his wallet, and showed everybody he ever met. I have no doubt that if he is on facebook out there, those pictures are there. I don't question the motives of such deep grief, but it was very hard to know what to say when he flashed those shots. They looked beautiful? How's he holding up? Gah. It added a new dimension to awkward grief conversations.
That is really, really creepy...
whoaaa... that is SUPER bizarre.
Just proves my long-standing point: too many people put too many inappropriate things on Facebook!
Shocking! :-0
Very common in Latin American cultures. Freaked me out the first time I saw it?!? Yes, ma'am. Normal for them. Yep.
It makes perfect sense to me, all of my family is 1,200 miles away, if not for facebook, I doubt anyone would bother to take a picture of them and mail it to me.
