OK, so I got into law school.  Not the one I wanted, and not exactly a top ten or even a top tier, but my options were limited.  I'm just happy to be going. Most of the people I know think I'm slightly insane.  I have 3 year old twins and a 5 year old.  For the past six years my only job has been to take care of them. Why would I want to suddenly abandon theme to the day care system and go to law school?  Well, if I stay home any longer I will be legally certifiable.Anyway, I have recently become hooked on blogs of other law students. The only problem is that most of them started toward the end of their 1L year.  I thought I would start one from the beginning. We'll see how long it lasts once classes actually start, but I'll give it a shot.

Personally, if you can handle three year old twins and a five year old, I think your first year of law school ought to be cake!

Have fun at orientation!

That's great! More power to you! I'm also a SAHM with three children (6, 4, 2) and am considering law school. I'll be interested in knowing how it goes for you.

Thanks for your blog. I know I'm talking to a four-and-a-half year old ghost by writing this comment on your first blog entry. I wonder if the person you are today in early 2009 can still identify with this July 2004 writer? I wonder a lot of things. And I agree with everything in this post, especially about where blogs start, and starting one from the beginning. I really appreciate how you continue to write now that you're actually in practice, and that you can talk about work in a meaningful, informative way that's still appropriately anonymous/lacking identifying details. It can be done, you are the proof! Thank you. I'd love to read about the thinking-about and the getting-into law school part of your journey, too, most especially to compare what, back then, you thought you were headed for versus what you find yourself doing now, and perhaps where you think you'll go next. You can email me at gudnuff@gmail.com if you are inclined to respond to this. I don't have any other way to contact you that I can see, so I'm leaving this very messy, wordy reach-out to you here (feel free to delete it if you'd like). Oh, one last thought...your post about career day and the blatant sexism your child's school displayed was shocking, outrageous, intolerable. You are so awesome for standing in front of the kids and showing them that women have careers too, and I was loudly cheering for you when you said you contacted the school to protest their handling of the event. The fact that they blew off your objections and concerns just further demonstrates how dismissive they are regarding the issue. I find that kind of stuff infuriating, and I applaud you for fighting against it. I applaud you for all that you've done since 2004, and for sharing it, showing it, working it. Thank you, LC. You have quite a reach, and you make quite an impression to a lot of us out here. You rock.
